Air Asia- Fishing Rods?
Submitted by Moohan on Wed, 2010-07-21 23:14
Hey Guys,
Has anyone travelled Air Asia with a fishing rod? Heading to Indo in a week and I'm considering taking a popping stick for some of the GT's I see cruising around one of the spots I stay. Rods aren't included on the list of sporting equipment carried by Air Asia, so I'm wondering if it will just count as normal baggage, or attract extra cost. The rod tube should only measure about 6 foot.
Cheers
Matt

Flew from Kuala Lumpur to
Flew from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok with Air Asia, had rod tube and was no dramas. Just give them a call or even ask a travel agent if you need confirmation.

Buz - what do you mean by no dramas? As in it was free? Or they just treated it as excess baggage and chaged you per kg?
I am also keen to know as heading to Thailand with them in September and keen to check out some of the Barra ponds over there.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

it all depends on the one
it all depends on the one behind the counter when u check in. Kuala Lumpur - Singapore (1st time) (did not get any fee), Singapore to Kuala Lumpur (got charged as sports equ), Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap (no charged) and no charge on the way back too.. then the 2nd time from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore... i had to pay..
best to check with the tour agent if u r using one.
also just be ready to pay some fee for is as sport equ. dont that that spoil your holiday.
