Albany summer

Hi everyone. In the summer my family are going to stay down in Albany, and I want to know what you will catch there? I am really keen and pushing the point to go to Kalbarri instead because of the tailor and they recon its "nicer" in Albany, but I don't agree . Anyway is there any chance of a tailor or salmon school in the middle of summer? Keen to give my rods a workout. If anything else is around there big like that in the waves, please let me know.
There is rivers in both locations that hold bream, so Im not worrying as much about smaller river species or jetty fish but more about the bigger stuff.

Down there sambos are a frequent catch, chance for a mulla in the surf, usually a heap of skippy and possibly KGW around. Either locations have decent fishing opportunities but Kalbarri will probably be more plentiful.
Edit: Kalbarri can be stinking hot in the summer!

but you could always go on the charter down there - Spinners. The fish n chip shop at Eagle Point - Squid Shack - is good for a feed if you don't have any luck.
Fishin for a feed and fun.

Probably leaving a bit late to book anything at Kalbarri as it gets very busy up there over summer, holidays in particular. Albany is still a good bet. Bream and Mulloway up the Kalgan, salmon etc from the beaches, big skippy too sometimes. KGWs are generally all over the sound, which incidentally is called King George Sound, where do you reckon KGW's got their names from.![](http://fishwrecked.com/sites/all/libraries/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/thumbs_up.gif)

Easterlies are strong in
Easterlies are strong in December mainly. There plenty of options east and west of Albany and the rivers for bream and mulloway. There will some resident salmon around before the big schools go past. Dont discount tailor there numbers are on the rise down here - look for structure. Herring are plentiful and good for live baiting. Use live baits to catch bronzies(beach and rocks) sambos (off rocks). If ya rock fish keep ya eye on the swell for extra safety fish off rocks facing eastward as they are sheltered from the swell from west/southwest. The rocks at salmon holes are death trap facing southwest...fishing these rocks is risk especially for a stinky salmon.

Albany has heaps of options
Albany has heaps of options in summer. Both the King and Kalgan rivers are really good for bream and mulloway, try up near the ski club.
Ledge beach is good for king george, skippy, herring. To catch the king george make sure you cast out right next to the weed patches using blood worms.

Few beach options
My family always used to go to Albany over summer.
If you are fit, the Sand Patch is a fantastic beach often packed full of herring.
Have caught a few resident salmon and even large silver bream there too, look for the deep holes.
Little beach has produced KG whiting for us, but thats about all I have! Few big stingrays around Emu Beach area ;)
