Did anybody buy a new boat at the boat show

Went along to the boat show on Sunday just for a look

Seemed to be a few serious enquiries going on

Did anybody buy a new boat at the show , what did you buy and how much did you save ?

Cheers Katman

particulalrly liked the Olympian 7.2 centre cab/console they had there. On a side note - Was blown away by the physical size of the Yammy 350 outboard.

I needed that laugh today - thanks Andy - was impressive though as were plenty of others. I'll have to buy the minister of finance something first

Lol, whole reason I won't go to the boat show is that I want them all. 7m boat is my dream Surtees or Barcrusher.

Certainly made me realise how much boat I got and how much money I saved buying my imported 7.62 centre console, thru my friend,  that designed them and had them built !

I will be going to eastern states... sad to say. Way overpriced here in WA. Cheaper to drive all the way over there bring it back , and save thousands.

Yep, I collected a heap of the price sheets from the Brisbane show and compared them to the prices on at the show and it's not worth buying a boat here.

Dealer was quite offended when I said they are cheaper over east... That was with a 4 stroke in Qld $5k cheaper than WA with a 2 stroke. When I got home and read the fit outs offered in Bris I felt like emailing them a scan of Brisbane prices and telling them to sharpen their pencil.

They really think you are doing them a favour buying their boat....

Yeah boats are definately cheaper to buy in Qld as thats where most of them are made. I too looked at buying from over east but by the time you drive 8000+ km, take into account the wear and tear on the car and having to take the trailer over the pits back here in WA I dont think its worth it. One of the local dealers I spoke to here reconed it costs him $3000 to get the boats over here, not sure how true that is.

Ha, buy one, wasn't even allowed to sit in one

Tue, 2014-10-14 07:27

I've been keen on a closer look at the Polycrafts for a while,

I asked the sales rep if I could get onboard the 4.5 side console Brumby (exactly what I'm looking for) and check it out, sit at the helm etc... see where the wring looms would run etc....He said "NO" as imagine what would happen if we let everyone sit in it.

I did think about this and thought someone might actually buy one if they they didn't have to deal with sales reps with a shit attitude, this reflects on the dealer and I wont be going anywhere near Balcatta to buy a boat.  I share the sentiments of others re WA dealers, over the top prices and poor customer service.

It was in the plan to this year to purchase, as I wanted to downsize.  I'll stick with the awsome boat I've got rather than have to deal with this sort of crap.

Cheers

The magic number

Tue, 2014-10-14 08:41

It seems like the magic number for a 7+ metre boat fitted out with all the fruit is $120,000. Almost all the plate ally boats witha similar fit out were almost all the same price, give or take a couple of grand. Too rich for me unfortunately..

3.5 Tonne on the nose

Tue, 2014-10-14 16:05

3.5 Tonne on the nose mate.

Scott Fury makes them custom to each individuals needs. Including a new kind of composite style hull to reduce weight if an issue.

I've got a Fury 26 cc at the moment, and considering an upgrade to a 28.

Yeah don't let the dealers

Tue, 2014-10-14 16:42

Yeah don't let the dealers con you with adding on heaps for freight, I once bought a 100hp outboard from Tasmania cheaper by 1000s than I could get in WA delivered. I don't mind paying extra..but sometimes they are taking the p*ss. Im also not keen on paying from places with large overheads with multiple secretaries, offices and the like. All of that gets added to the price of your boat. Totally unnecessary.
Having said that I would much rather buy here if the numbers and service is ok, But if not, Id rather do the big drive.

I totally agree with the prices over here. The mining boom has got the brakes on and not everyone can find that 120k. I did the drive to Brisbane and bought back a 2003 Cruisecraft 625 on a new Trailer. Not a single issue and saved at least 10k and that was from a dealer. Left on Boxing day and back in Perth New years day. It actually was a great drive. I just wish I had have stopped to fish some of the places on the south coast.
