Islands
Take it easy guys. 3.4m swell at the Islands is hudge. All of half moon reef will be the biggest swell you have ever seen. Wreck Point will be out of control.
The bitey holes will have swell breaking at the entrance.
I have been to the Islands on the Island leader in 3m and 20 knots and it was horrific.
Be safe and don't underestimate the swell. If the swell is 1.5 in Geraldton it is almost 3m at the Islands.
Take care.

under 4 now Paul, Sat and Sun
under 4 now Paul, Sat and Sun down 2-3m in Gero obviously, so add a bit for the islands.
Looks ok wind wise Saturday and Sunday morning at this stage, however BOM says totally different with Sat, Sun, Mon being pretty good less than 10 knots. 2 - 2.5m swell for Jurien.

sorry Paul, got cut off on
sorry Paul, got cut off on the phone earlier while I was in Bunnings and been flat out packing to leave north at 3am 4 am (depending whose giving the orders!
I reckon it will certainly be stirred up outside the islands now but also the funny thing there is it clears pretty quickly usually.
Inside the islands seems to always be clear pretty much no matter what.
Tonite its breaking out on Pensioners Bank and at various spots along the 10 meter edge outside my place with a big swell.
I havent been paying much attention to the forecast but the northwest on sunday will likely make it uncomfortable for you coming back next day.
One thing Id bank on is its not likely to be a smooth ride over or back.
Wheres Rusty these days?

Yep agreed with you Paul,
Yep agreed with you Paul, different sites have different forecasts.
BOM looks good for Sat / Sun but not good Monday.
Also interesting to see the live wind forecast for Geraldton offshore today?? Meant to be SW 10-15, but offshore was around 5knot easterly's early now 7-10 SW. Completely different to what was forecast.

Agreed Saturday and Sunday are good. Anyone's guess on Monday, Synoptic charts tell a different story though they look great all three days, couple days in Jurien then maybe

Abrolhos
Hi guys, I'm still around and check the forums when I can...been busy with work, home stuff and getting my photography business up and running.
Paul, thanks for the updates but the weather was against us this time. Like the others have said, still keen to go when the seas are calm.
Petermac, I've been across twice now in my 590 trailblazer and it's only me on board so sleeping on deck is fine for me. Fuel wise, on our first trip, which included a run up around the middle islands I burnt up 200L and travelled 213kms. My main tank holds 180L and I took 6 jerries of fuel...huge overkill but at least I didn't run short. Now have 2nd underfloor tank with 115L capacity so no worries now. If we go straight across to pelsaert island and stay close by the island fishing and diving, I'd only use 120 - 140L...hope this helps.
I'm guessing our next trip across will be after 15th December!
RobH, hey Rob...I'm still around, thanks for asking about me. Have a safe trip with your family to coral bay...calm seas and plenty of fish in the esky, mate! Catch you on our next island trip.
