Gday all
Went to Harvey again this morning.
No trout for me but the father in law got himself a nice rainbow.
I managed 3 small, well maybe tiny redfin. But another species off the list for me.
Rainbow was 42cm. Not a bad first trout for him.
Lots of fish rising again. Had 2 nice rainbows follow my lure all the way to the bank a couple times aswell.
Another great morning at a bloody bewdiful spot.
Cheers

Not as yet Buz.I have to go
Not as yet Buz.
I have to go back to work for a week but I think Ill head up that way when I get home.
I had a look up at Logue brook Dam but didnt have a fish. Couldnt believe the lack of water and the amount of rubbish everywhere. Was a horrible sight to see.
I caught my first trout up there about 4-5-years ago in a lillte crystal clear stream feeding the dam but that was just a trickle and full of crap.
A damn shame.
Harvey has been producing some nice fish though mate. Give it a crack.

Cheers Dan
Might try and get there Sunday
On another note if you like River fishing for Trout and ever head down Pemberton way I was down there 2 weeks ago and did alright. 2 Rainbows 46cm and 37cm, 2 Brown 33cm and 30cm and 3 Nice sized redfin. The water level is about 40-50cm higher than summer level(so not to bad compared to last few years), but still nice and clear not muddy at all, flowing really well and there were a heap more trout we saw, just wouldnt take a lure.

That sounds great mate. I
That sounds great mate. I love it down pemby way.
See if I can convince the mrs to head down for a few days.
I might be struggling to get her in the tent this time of year.
Might cost me a nice cabin with a wood fire but I can handle that.
Any hints on what area you were in mate??

There are a few nice rapids
There are a few nice rapids in areas along the Heartbreak Trail in the Nat. Park, plus very nice scenery in the Karri Forests.
Lefroy Brook is good, its shallow and very tight but some good trout. Upstream of the main road crossing as you come into Pemby from the south. I have even caught them upstream past the Fisheries Facility all the way up to Big Brook Dam. Even around the Cascades you can pick them up. Also where the Lefroy connects back to the Warren.
In the Creek down stream from the King Trout Farm is good right to where it connects back into the Warren.
Gloucester Bridge.
Further upstream you have Moons Crossing. Highly recommend having a set of reef walking shoes(rockhoppers is what i use) and wade through the water up stream and down stream of the actual crossing to find some nice little rocky rapids. Note: Water is cold
Usually i just go where you can get access to the river(e.g bridges) and walk up and down stream of them. All of the access points i go to are accessable by 2wd. Biggest advice i can give is find Rapids/Cascades/Fast flowing water over rocks and cast into the eddies and downstream side of them. I pick up nearly all my trout this way. Casting into the big deep pools your more likely to get Redfin or nothing.
Alot more adventurous and hunting like this way than Trout fishing the Dams, and i have always done better in the Rivers this way than Dams. Just something awesome about watching a good sized trout chase your lure and smash it in a shallow fast flowing stream!
