Gout and Diet
I believe gout and diabetes is related and my reason for believing that is i used to suffer big time from gout that would disable me for weeks on end but once I was diagnised with diabetes and my diet was restricted to no sugar and low carbohydrate consumption I haven't had any more gout. For me it is a win win situation because I don't take any insulin just by having a carefull diet and a lot of exercise.

Red wine, onions, tomatoes,
Red wine, onions, tomatoes, red meat, beer, shellfish. Basically being an aussie, will give you gout! I had high uric acid levels last year and it put me in hospital for 3 days, and off my foot (ankle) for 6 weeks - be careful when getting medication, as my condition actually improved once I stopped taking the medication and havent had any issues since. Get ontop of it early, as the damage that it does will compound as the years pass.\
Brucesta, if you keep drinking those Bush Chooks, you'll end up with more than Gout!

Diet does it
Age is a bitch - it punishes us for having a fun youth... I think the more fun early, the more pain later...
I am allergic to anti inflammatories, that's a pain in itself... But I have found a couple of things that help -
Take about 1cm of ginger root, shave it finely, put in a cup add boiling water, and a teaspoon of honey if you don't like it straight... sip on that each night before bed - works wonders. It aids the digestion as well as reducing inflammation, without any of the nasties associated with drugs.
Also - I take Proteolytic Enzymes, obtained from Dr Ben Kim - check his website - http://drbenkim.com and http://drbenkim.com/differences-between-pain-killers.htm - I've been taking his enzymes for a few months - the improvement in all my joint pains has been amazing.
Magnesium supplements are great too...
Hope this gives you some help.
Cheers,
Judy

I control mine with an adequate water intake, that keeps the bad acids diluted so they cant crystalise. I also drink apple cider vinegar during the warmer months as that's when I get it if I'm not watching my water intake.
