Hi All
There is a boat for sale at the moment which has been submerged.
Do you think it would be a good buy, or would there be hidden problems later on?
Obvisouly you would strip it, new motor electronics wiring and new bimini - but what else oculd there be?

unless you can strip and do all electrics needed and fit a second hand motor to the hull without paying anyone

Doesn't seem so bad to me
Doesn't seem so bad to me really.
When you buy a used boat, half the time you have to replace all the wiring and stuff just to know its good anyway. Not hard to wire a boat.
Nice to be able to pick your motor and hull separately as well.

think my first boat had been under
it was never advertised that it had so you're one up on me there.
I had to replace the wiring (think it was only about $1K) and the motor played up a bit but got sorted throguh a warranty issue luckily. Outside of that, it was fine. Still did a truck load of hours on the puppy over a few years.
As long as you budget to replace the bits that salt kills, all boats take water onboard and electrics get funny after a while any rate. By it being advertised that is got suck, at least you can budget for it.

Looks pretty good to me.
Looks pretty good to me. Trailer would have had no damage, and if you dont mind doing a little work yourself, it would be a good project. Replace ALL electrical and put on a new motor and you have a good fishing rig.

It looks repairable, though I
It looks repairable, though I would inspect it before I placed an offer.
I see they have some estimates for repairs on the web site. They seem a little optimistic to me.
Go take a look, take some photos, make list of things to be replaced and then go get some quotes to repair/replace U/S items.

Well it's in Rods boat yard
Well it's in Rods boat yard in Joondalup, and he is a straight up & honest chap, so talk to him over a coffee and he will give you the whole truth on the boat.
my opinion is you buying a trailer, boat needing lots of TLC, so for $10k it would be a good buy. Second hand four stroke on the back and some eletronics etc, plus TLC would set you back about up to $10k in my books, so you looking $20k for the boat, now to weight that up against a new rig... thats your choice.
Now do a quick search on boatsonline for a 5 to 6m allie boat, under 12 years old and under $20k and see what you can get...
then the true picture can be seen, that it's not a bad deal if you got open eyes and know your stuff.

$10K- cost of
$10K- cost of hull/trailer
$15K- New 115hp yammi 4 stroke- $15K
$1.5k- Sounder/GPS
$3K- misc. ie. nav lights, radio, epirb, extinguisher
Also be weary of the fuel tank, you will need to flush and clean.
All up you would be looking around the $30K mark which would be good buy, if you have the time and patience and assumming there are is no hidden structural damage.
