Any Mitsubishi Outlander owners?

Gday all.
Just wondering if there are any FWrecked members on here that own(or have owned) a Mitsubishi Outlander in the 2010-2013 range either the 2.4L 4 cylinder or the 3.0L V6.

Looking at getting a new car(used) for the other half and want an SUV. We are pretty keen on the Outlanders after a hell of alot of research, plus her sister and Husband own one so have got to play with it on and offroad and were thoroughly impressed.

Just wouldn't mind hearing some real world reviews from other people.

Already got a 4wd so dont need the 4wd/AWD/SUV debate. Other than city driving it may he used to tow the boat from home to the ramp and for beach dune driving up north(my brother in law used his up there and it went briliant) so I think it should suit this purpose :-)

Another choice is to go the 2.4L 4 cylinder CVT or the 3.0L V6 auto?

So any real world reviews or advice from personnal experience from people would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Buz.

I help to oversee and manage a fleet of more than a thousand vehicles statewide. Out of any vehicles we have on fleet ranging from small cars to 4wds to big trucks I can strongly recommend the Outlanders.

Of anything on fleet the Mitsubishi lancers and outlanders give next to no trouble. They are the same running gear with the exception of the 4wd component obviously. Same gearbox, same motor ect.

With a 5 year on car and a 10 year on motor and gearbox warranty you can't go wrong. Just do your normal oil and filter changes regularly and spark plug change when it is due and it should give you years of trouble free motoring. My mrs also drives a Lancer so I practice what I am preaching.

if it was me looking for one I would buy the 2.4 Cvvt model as that is what I have had the most experience with, and as I said next to no dramas at all with them.

and no I don't work for Mitsubishi if anyone was thinking that.

Hi Scano.
Cheers for the info, good to hear you rate them :-)

I was keen on the 2.4L CVT initially then I had some people say that there are a lot of issues with CVT, not specifically to Mitsubishi but with the technology itself. They said I would be better off going with the 3.0L V6 6 speed auto.
Must say I had never heard of CVT before starting my search so its new tech new to me.

Seems the prices for a 2012 2.4l CVT compared to the 3.0L V6 isn't to much different, and from specs it seems only to be about 0.8L/100km more thirsty. Bit more Power and Torque of the V6 may come in handy when towing or on the beach?

Have only driven my Brother inlaw's 2.4L on the beach before(it went awesome!) so I can only imagine a V6 would be better?

Cheers mate.

We hired one and gave it an absolute flogging, with air con on all the time. Very economical and a solid little car with heaps of room in the back.

Hey Swompa, any chance you remember what year or what motor was the one you had?

Thanks, Buz.

It was hired in June this year and had 10,000 on the clock, so it wasn't old. It had a 4cl petrol engine.

Driving 600km  in and around a Exmouth averaging 7.2l. Didn't even use a full tank. My folks had one too and did similar kms with similar fuel consumption too, so driving like a wanker didn't make much of a difference.

I have a 2010 Navara, and wife has a 2004 corolla. We were going to upgrade to a Kluger, but after seeing how good the fuel consumption and ride was, we will have had to reconsider when the time comes.

i was up in Darwin last year and got upgraded from corolla to a Pajero (yeah). Also gave that car an absolute flogging, through creeks and corrugated roads. Would certainly consider a Mitsubishi in the future.

Cheers for that Swompa. Sounds like they get some good kms/L of fuel.

Now to see which dealer is going to do the best price/best add ons for me :-)

Go hard or go home. None of them will lose money so its all about how much do they want you to give them money.

I just ordered 6 company cars, all done by email. Easier to get what you want as it is all written, and it is up to them to convince you that they are giving you the best deal.

My missus has a 2009 with the 2.4L with the cvt, absolutely never had any issues with it, tows 15ft tinny no worries when we go down south, wife drives it around the city with the normal school, shopping, important wife duties all week and it is very economical. In the time we have had it I have only just replaced the brake pads and battery at 65000km. Other than that it is the basic oil and filter at 10000 km

Cheers for the info Dan.

Great to hear you rate your Outlander, and even use it to tow the tinny!

Looking at a 2011-2012 model which it says the service interval is now 15000km.
