Bloody Mercury Optimax's and

Thu, 2010-10-21 07:05

Bloody Mercury Optimax's and there compressors. I'm just about to fit my second one in 8 years. It's what makes them so fuel efficient but also lets them down in a big way. Spoke to Mercury state rep the other day and he said he can't help me because I never got the outboard serviced at a official Mercury dealership. The guy that has worked on my boat has more experience with Mercurys than most of the monkeys that work at the dealerships. Won't be buying a Mercury ever again.

Steve you will forfeit any warranty on your motor if you fit a compressor from the US. You will also forfeit any warranty if you don't use an official mercury service centre. It a load of w**k but I guess its how Mercury Australia stop you from buying overseas.

Bought an outfit this week

Thu, 2010-10-21 20:29

Off the shelf price in Perth $1,449

Best deal I could do in Perth $1,360

Motackle delivered $1,289

From US delivered AUD992

Granted not all Perth stores stocked what I ended up purchasing but I think the end result would have been the same.  I would prefer to purchase locally but I'm sorry from my perspective the $ are better in my pocket than theirs.

Ebay

Fri, 2010-10-22 07:08

Go ebay and just check out the rating of responses. anyone who has done more than 1000 transactions and has a good feedback rating I usually use (ie above 98% as you will always get a whinger who didnt check on what he thought he was buying or somthing else like slow postage , expecting something to arrive overnight).

nice new set of Canadian PSB

Fri, 2010-10-22 08:37

nice new set of Canadian PSB Alpha Series 5.1 surround sound speakers and powered sub woofer. Not quite fishing gear, but does make IFish sound a whole lot better...lol

I am looking at some diving gear from the USA as well... but may have to wait till next month, as the move and new sound toys have brocken the bank!
