Anyone used or bought one of these underwater cameras??

Just wondering if anyone has purchased or used one of these?

 http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=330835456071&globalID=EBAY-A

thinking of forking out for one to check and see what fish and life are on the lumps when we head out deeo on bodies boat.

my question is are they relatively clear ?

and does anyone find them effective for similar sort of uses?

any other suggestions for under water cameras to be used for the same purpose around the $300 mark would be appreciated. Basically wanting to lower down a camera and get some live video to see if there is much activity

cheers

scano

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

I've got something similar

Hi scano

I've got a similar unit to that one, except mine didn't come with the monitor and case....I sourced these items separately, as well as a DVR. The quality isn't super flash but you get a reasonable picture....good enough to see what's going on down there.

I haven't used it as much as I thought, but I'm planning on taking it out again soon....so I can verify what I'm seeing on my sounder, compared to what's actually down there.

We did use it inside a 1200Kl water storage tank to check out the condition of the liner and to see if there was any build up on the floor of the tank, and it worked really well. Nowhere near HD quality but good enough to clearly see what was going on inside the tank.

regards
rusty...

yeh mate i have one.

the camera is a little differant with 2 weights instead of the one, but i would say it is the same camera.

i got mine with 50mtrs of cable and like rusty said its not the greatest quailty but good enough to see whats down there.

i had mine out a couple of weeks ago checking on a few things,(got to see the thing i wanted to see) its great to help understand your sounder as well.

also get the dvr recorder so you can record and watch at home later.

i also have an old deck mounted alvey that the cable rolls up on and marked every 5mtrs with differant color tape so i know how deep we are(dont want the camera getting stuck in the coral/weed)

dont use it alot, but it beats me getting down there with the bitties.

Maybe Gopro?

I don't have any experience on the subject but I did see a doco on the Gopro cameras. I'm sure they would have a solution for the situation described.
