Hey,

I was thinking about using artificial bait, but i wasnt too sure if you can use it like you do with normal bait or is there a particular way you have to use it??? Any Help will be greatly appreciated :)

Sounds like you were looking at berkley gulps. I could be wrong though.
With soft plastics, there are many different brands and many different models and colours within those brands.

Soft plastics are a good lure when there's not to many blowies around. What fish are you looking to catch?

Gulps aren't the best for the river as the blowies will demolish them very quickly. I prefer SnapBack 2' grubs on a Light jig head. Snap backs will last 10x as Long as gulps and work 10x better too IMO.

Techniques wise, (works for most plastics) just cast it out, let it sink then give the rod 2 sharp jerks then pause to let the plastic sink to the bottom again. Repeat all he way in. Another is just a slow roll, all you have to do if reel slowly and steadily the whole way in.

Use the search function aswell, lots of valuable info on this type of stuff to be found.

+1 for snapback grubs, they are great lures, as for retrieves, literally vibrate the rod and a slow crank of the handle at the same time, it's quite hard to get the hang of but sends a vibration to the lure that the bream go nuts over

+2 for Snapback grubs

Sun, 2011-05-29 10:04

Deffs 2"snapback grubs due to their durabillity and their awesome action.

I generally fish them on a 3-6lb fluro leader and a 1/32oz or 1/22oz gamagatsu round211 jighead.

I fish them slow and deep.

fav colours are Avocardo and Pumkinseed.

cheers

tom
