Barred Creek, Broome
Submitted by jesse_b on Sat, 2013-03-30 19:11
Me and a mate fished Barred Creek out of Broome today. On the low tide there was very little water left in the creek, with the sections still holding water appearing very shallow, a couple if feet at best. Can anyone offer some advice as to whether these shallow water bodies still hold barra or if we should be fishing elsewhere or on a different tide? Apparently Willie Creek holds more water on the low, it's this a better option? Any advice appreciated

Barred creek doesnt hold much
Barred creek doesnt hold much water at all on the low tide. Although it fishes well for jacks inside the creek around the mangroves on the last few hours of the runout tide. Barra are better at the mouth of the Creek. Willie creek holds heaps of water and fish and also fishes best on neap tides particularly on the last couple of hours of the runout and the first hour or so of the runin tides. Some good jacks are also resident in the creek all year round. You are fishing really big tides at the moment, I would target Willie creek on the last of the runout and the first of the runin. A much better option would be to fish Crab creek for the big threadfin ...perfect tides and best time of the year. Surprisingly the top of the tide and the first of the runout fishes really well also. As the tide slackens at the top, try targeting big mulloway with dead or live baits out the front of the creek mouth. for an hour or so . Coming home from here with the wind against the tide can be tricky though .So if in a small tinny be careful. hope this helps
