Battery Advice...

Hey Guys,

After advice on battery purchase for my boat.  Both Batteries have died won't accept charge...

I have a 250 verado which the manual says i Need a min of 1000 cca for starting purposes..

The batteries have been in the boat since new and where fitted by the dealer..

The old batteries were only 900 cca

Is this an issue.

Have done a little searching online for batteries but not having any luck for this size.

Are there any brands to stay clear of and what brands  seem to be best...

It runs a duel setup.  basic sounder two radios and a sterio and usual lights etc....

cheers

Plenty of info on the net on this.

May I suggest you do a search "250 Verado battery", there are bulletins, and answers to other owners asking the same question.

I cant help

I cant help with what size and type you need but can suggest buying factory direct from Supacharge in Bayswater. I am not affiliated with them but after a few crap batteries i go straight to them now for advice and factory direct prices.

I have bought a couple batteries online, only to find out they were older stock and they crapped out fairly quick.

Cheers Grant  .

Another option is Goldchilds

Another option is Goldchilds Enterprises in Jandakot.

I picked up these for $194 each, ~1050 MCA

http://goodchild.com.au/marine/bosch-battery-s4-78.html

Gotta give them a business name to get that price (make one up) but can pay cash / card.

 If your after some CAT

Mon, 2014-12-15 21:18

If your after some CAT batteries, i would suggest the one with part number 115-2422. These are 1000cca and rated at 90amp hours. And according to my cat login they are available in the guildford store and are $230 each plus GST maybe. Never bought stuff from them only through work but pretty sure you can order and pay on pickup if you want.

Cheers Joel

 If your battery drops below

Mon, 2014-12-15 22:23

If your battery drops below 10.6v on start up, the 250 verado's engine management shuts it down. Hence the requirement for powerful batteries.

I put Fullriver AGM batteries in my boat (with 250 Verado). Best price is Challenger batteries in Osborne park.
