beach launch ocean whaler 565

Looking for comments from 565 owners that would/do launch from the beach. Equally keen to hear from anyone that thinks it's not such a good idea.

Is it a necessity to submerge the trailer or can the hull handle a bit of a drag?

Cheers Craig.

 Hi Craig

you will have no dramas with beach launching a ocean whaler guy up here in Exmouth does it all the time and drives it on. Had a ride on it the other day such a capable boat very impressed.

 I have a 5.5m genesis plate

I have a 5.5m genesis plate Ali boat

i beach launch my boat comfortably on a very soft beach

the few tips I would give you are

1. Tyre pressures- let them down nice and low on boat and car

2. I use max trax under my boat tyres so they don't sink in the wet sand

3. A couple of snatch straps to pull the boat out....I don't snatch it just a slow drag

4. Probably the most important is the wheel on the drawbar..allows you to skull drag your trailer up the beach

i can almost crank my boat up onto the trailer dry quite comfortably, the boat is quite heavy

id also suggest changing your winch cable to dyneema, it won't cut your arms off if if snaps...

good luck

Jess

The brother has one in Busso

The brother has one in Busso Craig. Top little boat.
Like any glass hull I wouldn't be dragging it up the beach tinny style if that's what you meant .
Extend the drawbar and or put a swing down wheel on and you`ll be right.

If you can get a front

If you can get a front towball installed that's the way to go. Makes it easy. Getting it out is where you need to be on your game. You'll need to back your car and possibly trailer(depending on the type of beach) onto tracks.

Its all going to be dependant upon where you launch.

Hey Craig. Dont have same boat but just some things you need to consider.

Launching is easy.........Retrieving it different.

I launch between Lancelin and Leeman often , mine is ally 6.4 though and need to go back a bit into water.

No idea how heavy your boat is or if waters are open/protected.

Depends on a few things mate :

Sand soft or hard ( easy to bog when retrieving as you need to stay in place a while and my Cruiser back tyres are just being lapped by water surge, so need to be mindful of it)

Depth where you are launching/retrieving/low/high tide , this will be a factor how far you go in. Shallow I need to go further back when launching/be mindful that when retrieving, surge back can beach you if its shallow.

Wind conditions (wind is up, canopy becomes a parachute pushing boat to shore if sea breeze is in)

Surge / waves pushing boat around.

How many people you got holding the boat whilst someone is  bolting to reverse trailer in/keeping it straight whilst winching up/driving out.

We have it down pat if we have 3 of us, but can be difficult if conditions are against you. Max traks / snatch em straps etc good ideaq to have on hand just in case....

Suggest you give it a go in decent consditions first to see how you go.

Hope that helps.
