Blackwood Bream
Submitted by damo6230 on Mon, 2008-12-29 08:38
Went for a fish on the Blackwood yesterday. Managed one Bream and a mate lost a couple of small ones. This bream was 40cm and smashed a slam SP. Was using slam SP, 3' white jerk shad.
Was a pretty hard day as there was big mobs of boats on the water.
This bloke decided to hitch a ride as he obviuosly figures it was to far to swim to the other side of the river. He was about half way across the river when he made a bee line for us...and once he settled down on the battery box he didn't want to leave. We kicked him off (on the other side of the river) after about 15 minutes of fishing....

hitchhiker
I have caught goanna's before doing wildlife surveys and they are one tough tempremental customer.....this bloke didn't have a care in the world. Was quiet happy to sit on the box as we moved around fishing. You could even pat him although never recommended as the bite contains bacteria which can lead to nasty infection.
He must have been buzed by so many boats though so he was lucky he made it across....well at least to our boat...ha ha

fat hitchhiker
He was really fat and well conditioned so maybe he was just working the boats for a free feed, alas we had no bait on board; lures only.

beautiful! I've handled
beautiful! I've handled more than a few goanas(or monitors as we call them in the USA). you are right, they can be nasty. his temperment suggests that this might not have been his first time on a boat with people.
