Bloody Cotton Palm Trees:

Geez- I wish I had chain sawed this when it was only 10 feet tall!  These were all the rage to plant in the seventies. Hate them as well.

And no that's not me up there- had to pay for this removal:

Add Date Palms to the list!  Getting someone to out cut it down was the easy part, no one wanted to touch the stump and roots.  Took me weeks to dig the f**ker out

Those cottons are the worst

theres no more uglier plant when they're that tall. Also there are few more flammable plants than them, when they have the skirt of dead fronds around the trunk - they burn like buggery, very quickly.

I used to use a quicker method

Sun, 2016-07-24 01:21

When I was a lot younger I used to use 1/2 to 3/4 of a case of gelignite (AN60) stumps used to jump clean out of the hole in no time flat.
Mind you it was very important that you had good neighbours and they lived at least 1 mile or so from your boundary.
It also paid you to stay under cover for 1/2 an hour or so after setting if off, by then it should have stopped raining wood.
