Boat fishing out of freo?

Hi guys,

Pretty new to boat fishing, been heading out from woodies mostly and doing all right catching whiting and squid but Im thinking of mixing it up a bit and trying something new. Was thinking of launching at leuwin heading out from freo maybe to stragglers or the mewstones but im not really sure what to expect out there, anyone got any advice?

Cheers

I advise you still launch from woodies for these locations - East Freo council parking fees are over the top & they just about have a bloke writing up fines permanently stationed there. If you stick to the speed limit it'll take 15-20 min's to get out the heads anyway so not sure what the advantage would be other than a SW pushing you home. Launch from woodies & you can always stop & top up on the way back on your familiar territory if stragglers/mewstones don't deliver.

at stragglers you can usually get a feed of nice snapper drifting unweighted baits down to them on a snell in your burly trail i have also caught tailor and gummys like this near stragglers

At least launching from either Leewuin or point peron you down have to worry whether you going to come back to slashed tyres or busted window as what happens at woodies more often

P/P boat ramp would have to be the best boat ramp set up I have ever seen with great fish cleaning and boat hose down facility's pity Rockingham council don't keep their keep their promises about dredging a channel at the Bent St boat ramp hhhmmmm maybe I should do something about it and run for council
