Boat Repair

purchased a boat and took it out for it's maiden voyage today for 5 hours on the river calm and flat conditions, so there was no waves splashing over the bow. With only one bag of ice in under deck esky.

when returned to redcliff boat ramp 5 hours later retrieved the boat as per usual released the bungs

what do you know it took approxiametly 20 minutes of water gushing out from the bung holes. Came home and put the hose in my boat for several minutes and what do i find not water dripping but gushing out of my aliminium hull of my 16 foot savage that i just purchased with good hard earned money which took me several years to save (and it took one wanker to rip me off)

all that said can anyone recommend a good aliminium boat repairer... PLEASE

hi silk200611 i got a stacer

Sun, 2011-01-02 07:24

hi silk200611 i got a stacer that also leaks like a sive, the problem with mine was the foam under the beck rubbs on the ali and makes a bust, and the bust off that is what eats through your boat,so i had to pull all the floatation out and wrapp it all up before putting it back in ,i havent had to much of a problen since, all the older ali boats have the same problem with the floatation

sorry mate i dont know any repairs in perth ,i hope this will slow it down once you get it fixed

Cant recommend a repairer but my first boat was a Savage Osprey almost identical to that one. Was a great boat for what I used it for at the time.

agree with the guy on gnangarra rd, seems to do some good work.

as for the seller...what a wanker...i dont know how anyone could be such a prick to sell like that without telling you.

did you go back to him and complain loudly?

i would be asking for some cash back or at least put in for the repair bill.

but as said... you should of water tested it first.

unlucky mate.

Complained loudly and the seller came to the party and returned a lil cash and helping with repair work...

so im 80% happy now but last night i was out for blood, glad i only text the seller not rang him as i dont think i would of been to nice as it was mine and misses safty in jeopardy yesterday, as that was the major problem we also have one of the two fuel tanks was leaking also..

as for the water test it was a lil far from the water to test but should of at least put a lil water in the hull too check for leaks...

thanks too all that reply to my post, I will give the guy in gnangarra a call tueday morning..

Thanks again
