Building your own game chair?
Hi everyone,
I have been toying with the idea of putting together a game chair for our up and coming Exmouth trip in April.
just wondering if anyone has had a crack at building one of their own?
i have had a look online and they are super expensive to buy!!
it would really be something that could be mounted on the rear transom area where 2x rod holders currently reside and then have stabiliser legs going down onto the rear marlin deck. Make it removable and that way when we want to do some bottom fishing it is not taking up all the rear deck space.
or if someone has an old one sitting around in the shed literally gathering dust they want to sell on at a cheap price please let me know.
curious to know if anyone has tried to make something similar or has some good ideas to throw around.
cheers

If you decide against a chair
the following link provides a cheap and relatively simple alternative. Not exactly heavy duty but a solution none the less.

Why not stand up?
Why not stand up?
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Stand up
Agree with dodgy , if your fishing at exmouth the general size of billfish is relatively small and fight time short so the use of a chair wouldn't be required , also the gear used is generally different .
Sure there's always a chance of a big girl but with today's harnesses ie "equalizers" you would still be able to handle it . It's all about technique and boat position/ driving ..
just my thoughts cheers fishfish

I personally wouldn't bother
I personally wouldn't bother mate, you'll need chair rods (longer than standard), find a mounting position on the deck, extra help to point the chair towards the fish, its less forgiving for the skipper as you need to keep the fish pretty much between 9 and 3 o'clock resulting in you losing ground on the fish as you have to drive off it to get out the back again. The quality of the stand up harnesses on the market now allows formally unachievable captures to be the norm.
Have a look at EGFC's facebook site and see what Luke Groen caught on 37kg standup.
Plus you can take your harness set ups on other boats.
Good luck in Exmouth.
