Bummer,no boat. Where to fish locally.

Hi guys,
Scored a weekend free pass to go fishing but finding it rather difficult to fish the river and local beaches and avoid crabs, it seeems the little buggers are everywhere. My little girls are mad keen to throw a line in but we are disappointed averytime, all we seem to do is feed the crabs. I suppose its that time of the but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thats the thing with landbased, its always hit and miss
But if u want to catch something then i would probably fish at the swan, maybe on a jetty and cast into structure for some bream, i feel it the chances are alot higher then fishing at beaches/rocks
