busso squidding help.

hey all.

now i know that the jetty is closed now but wen it was open how did u all lift your squid up to the top? what if you have got it buy one tenticle?

would it be worth it getting a squidding gaff to save the loses?? then thats the next question, which length??? the jetty from top to water is over 3m isnt it? so i will need the 5m one. or if you guys use other accessorises that you use to lift you squid.

if you have any advice please comment as im scratching my head about it. also does anyone no when it opens again?

the one in the pic is the one i was looking at if im going to get one. the details are here: http://www.fishonproshop.com.au/fishonproshop/SelectProd.do?prodId=278&manufacturer=Daiichi+Seiko&category=Gaffs&name=DAIICHI+AUTO+KING+SQUID+GAFF+%28CS500%29+-+YELLOW+%2F+GREY+%2F+RED&model=CS500

G-day mate i used to use a crab net or when you get the squid to the surface lift it in and out of the water a few times and normally the squid will actually wrapp more of its tenticles around the jig.

This is part of the reason why i like the cheaper jig sometimes, hooks are abit blunter and i found that the chances of them mouth hooked is increased, with the more expensive jig  alot of foul hook up with 1 tentacle or 2 tentacle.

Thats a good price for those gaffs,,a work of art they are,,

You can pay $50-$60 for a quality squid jig,,

(if you hook a cuttlefish on the Busso jetty you will be glad you have one )

Anyway i would up the poundage of your line, 10 lb minimun,,the squid are twice as big as the average size metro sometimes,,

Just lever them up in one big lift after the last squirt,,see how many tourists get squirted with ink when they come in for a close look Cool

(the jetty opens December last i heard)
