Cant sleep.

Quite sure most people get like this, cant sleep to excited about up and coming events.

Going to have a troll around west end for some mackys and then a bottom bash somewhere... maybe even try a few of the wrecks, sad thing is filled the tomcat with 200l of juice today only to realise the sounder and gps are not playing the game so looks like a wet afternoon trip home in the tinny.

Wake up next morning fillet some fish if i catch any, they should be nicely chilled thanks Dave.

Fly out to phuket for 5 days... maybe more if i like it enough and change my flights home, 15/20hrs in a tatto chair, cruise the coastline on a scoota, chill at some beaches and drink with randoms till the sun comes up.

You would be hard pressed to wipe the smile off my face right now.

May even try and get a fish in over there, giant mekong catfish could be good for a laugh and when i get back gamex is less than 2 weeks away so should be able to get out to the fads and try my new lures.

Im struggling to wipe this shit eating grin off my face

I wish that was the reason I couldn't sleep and not the fact my kids kept waking up crying all night... Haha. Jealous! Enjoy mate and hope you catch a few fish too!

Hmmm - Same S--t different Dog!

Sun, 2012-02-19 13:32

I'm in the same boat guys- No sleep after having my shoulder reco'd on Thursday. To do this op they put you out and then dislocate your shoulder to allow room for the arthroscopic tools- 4 anchor plugs, stitch up 2 torn tendons, burr off a calcium growth and just for good measure trim up the clavicle in my AC joint. I'm left handed and its my left shoulder too!

Been ripping into Endone & Panadeine Forte like a little kid eats Lifesavers outta their showbag.  They give you a painbuster straight into the shoulder for the first nite to help ease the pain - its a slow release anaesthetic - my arms killing me by 1am so more tablets eventually sleep about 4am for 2 hours. Next morning the nurse finds the tube into my shoulder is kinked so no pain relief for the first nite.

On the plus side the nurses were really nice & the food great - I'm a Govvie patient as it's my first op in 36 years and can only say they did a terrific job to assist me within their guidelines. The arm is now slinged up & I'm not able to fish for prob 3 months so I'll be reading lots of fishwrecked posts to see how everyone is going in their favourite pasttime- Keep the great stories coming as I'm going be doing lots of vicarious fishing until I can get out myself.

Exercises

Sun, 2012-02-19 13:49

Make sure you do the exercises given to you and don't do like I did and start them straight away as you'll pay for it in the long run.

Had the same op about 6 months back and know what you're going through.

All good

All back to normal and back with a line in the water when the weather permits.

Another bit is to make use of the sling and don't be a hero and toss it away too early, they don't give it to you to make you look good and collect sympathy

Sling Use

Sun, 2012-02-19 19:38

I hear you Carnarvonite- been icing up regularly as well. Glad its during Summer - hardly bother to wear a shirt apart from a button up one - the sling is pretty bulky. i'd hate to have this op down here in the Sou West during winter. No dramas about the Hero status I'm just gonna do whatever it takes without short cuts so it gets better properly so I can get back into things when I can. How often do you hear of people attempting to take shortcuts and the whole thing unravels for them cos they rush it too quickly?
