From up there just wouldn't keep anything haha. While the river is in bad shape its a long way from being dead uncle. If people put the time in and didnt give up after catching one blow fish there is alot of fun to be had
loads of rubbish and weed in the Ascot Marina over the weekend and with that rotting it too is taking out oxygen.
Can again tell you they should be monitoring the flush effect from Ellenbrook and other developments nearby eg the new Lord Street developments and new Brookleigh deveopments, all of which are tossing loads of chemicals at the ground!
fertilizer is the big problem. If you look at all the fertilizer load coming off so many gardens/parks/developments near the river, its like a pond, you can have a great filter, but you chuck in a small handfull of fertilizer and any pond will go green and choke with algae. If you look at cockburn sound, the issue there is heavy metal pollution, the river's big issue is increasing fertilizer runoff
We are blessed in that the Swan is a thriving aquatic place to live. Inevitably though time will take it's toll unless regulations are really strict and appropriate monitoring is in place. Sadly, regulations don't always result in good monitoring and punishment for breaches. That's politics I'm afraid.
I agree that development up the river is placing strain on the system and surely; someone is looking at this?????

It's about progress and the need for regulation IMO
