what reels to replace the lost ones?

Mostly beach fishing
need reels to replace - (still have rods)
saragosa 18000f , used with a 12 foot daiwa surf sensor. had 30 pound braid
shimano sahara 4000, used with 9 foot eupro cyclone ,had 6 kg braid
does anyone have suggestions on reels to perhaps better match these rods?

reel replacements
mate i would go with 2 of the new stradic fj series reels an 8000(30lb) and a 4000( 15/20lb) ive got a couple of them and at around $200 each i dont think you will find better. cheers

One thing to ebay if you are saving $300 on a reel, but you have to put some value on a 10 year warranty. Just got a warranty replacement no questions asked on a fairly new Stella SW. Part would have been $100+ if I'd had to buy it. Pretty lucky was a locally bought reel.
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

I assume the 4000 sahara and Eupro were mainly for throwing lures around?? My suggestion would be a 4000 or 5000 Okuma Salina ii. Nice fast retrieve rate (6.2 : 1). The 4000 would be nice and small/light, but I think the 5000 might suit better. Slightly larger spool size for longer casts and slightly faster retrieve.

Warranty
I don't trust that warranty, they wouldn't fix my baitrunner when it locked up (no water ingress or rough treatment, 6 months old) and it ended up costing me $60 for something I could have done myself 10 year warranty not worth the paper it's written on.
So if I buy a reel I don't even factor that into it anymore.
Redbucket for the big rod I reckon a daiwa wind cast would sit nicely on that. I use a saltiga surf on mine but that's a lot more expensive depending on budget.
Both feature long cast spools and are fairly light which would suit that rod being it has a nice light feel to it.

Seems to be such conflicting stories on the Shimano warranty.
Guess it depends what it is, but for me there were no questions asked at all. I just called them, told them the line roller was corroded, and they sent me a new one the next day. That's it.
Some people seem to have great success, others not!

depends how you go about it(warranty)
i buy all my gear through bluewater morley and whether its shimano or diawa i just take it to the shop and they contact the supplier and sort out any warranty issues , i haven"t been dissapointed once in over 10 years, i would expect all good tackle stores to do the same. cheers

Thats where I took it, dissapointed is an understatement.
I have been pretty lucky with alot of my gear rarely had problems because I take care of it myself.
Interesting point there dkonig the problem I had was also a corroded bearing, being that it was inside a baitrunner and they are a fair bit more involved I went down the warranty path
Sorry to hijack the post redbucket I suppose it's worth weighing up all brands have there faults

Daiwa Aird for your lure work on your 9", got mine for $109 delivered, or in store for roughly that. A second spool is a bonus, mine hasn't faltered using it with a 10" sensor surf for just lures/metals etc. Light as a feather and cheap to, smooth as.

As for your bigger reel, the Daiwa Saltist 6500 might be a good choice. My 4500h is awesome, 6500 a little heavy for me and my style of fishing.

And they absolutely honour thier warranty (lifetime) - I wore out literally a handle on my Okuma, not only did they replace it they sent me two - now that's customer SERVICE

Well on the subject of reels anyway LOL.
I have had a good experience with Okuma albeit my Fav reel FX65 did pack it in but Okuma sorted that out. I have 4 reels for different situations all of the same brand. Have gone PEN for heavier stuff (thanks for the heads up Rig). If the guy who posted this thread is trawling then Okuma owe me some money LOL.
