comp has ended (its a draw)

thanks to southcity104 for a cracker of a last entry (106cm hapuka) has south's won by 1.  of course!!!! we all new that from the start!!!! would of been more if it wasnt for a couple of traitors ha ha ha ha and no you guys cant jump ship now!!!!!

but seriously now, the north/south thing was just a bit of fun and proberly wont be there again.

thanks again to everyone that took the time to have a go at something differant, i hope everyone took it as a bit fun and nothing to serious.

we would like to here some opinons good or bad on what you guys thought about how the comp went for the first of its kind as a  online fishing comp. (even if you did not enter)

would you like to run it again at a later date with prizes up for grabs this time?

would you still like it to run for a month or was that abit long?

would you still like to run it state wide (WA)

would you still like to keep all species as eligable with a selected amount up for prizes.

and with the prizes would you pay for the postage cost for it to be sent to you if you won.

from a running it point of view,

it wasnt to bad and didnt take alot of time to keep up with, the 2 links was a pain in the ass but that has been sorted and there will only be one link for the next one if it happens.

a report from adam said it did not impact on the site and it didnt cause him any grief with the uploads, which is a good thing as well.

thanks again to everyone and especialy adam for alowing it to go ahead.

cheers

ron

p.s

dont forget if you want to check out all of the entered pics hav a look here

thanks for all your great work

was good fun. Would love to see it run again.

I would prefer it to be metro - say Mandurah to Moore River (pretty liberal)

I would love there to be prizes, especially on prized categories, emphasis on more targeted species

I would definitely pay for postage for a prize.

Length wise I think maybe 16 days (three weekends) would be ample to maintain interest and provide opportunity. I also like it was in the school holidays.

another idea would be to have a "records" section to add a bit of interest over the years.

thanks for the great work.

It's a draw - sorry Fisho -

It's a draw - sorry Fisho - you marked my Port Jackson as South - and I am North.

All in all a good comp.

I still believe that you should make all shark and rays part of the comp by measurement. It is quite the fisherman to bring in a 50kg ray or shark for that matter. With rays - measurement of disk size, and sharks - precaudal measurement - this is not difficult and quite easy to do - it will also bring an element of excitement to the especially the landbased anglers who cannot fish for a pinky, dhui or sambo.

The rays / sharks can be just as rewarding from a landbased fishermans perspective - not only to be able to reel in a good size shark / ray - but also from a tackle point of view, will the knots hold, the hooks - sliding techniques ect ect.

Great comp - thanks.

Couldnt agree more!

Even if rays and sharks became landbased only species or something... Would add a bit of interest for us landbased guys cuz to be honest I didnt really follow the comp this time round at all.

enjoyed the comp, pity my

enjoyed the comp, pity my skills didnt produce anything of note during the month.

My thoughts

-A month was a good time period

-Set species targets , 3 estuary/river species eg. Whiting Bream Flatties , 3 rock species and maybe 5 or so from boat

-These can change or rotate throughout the year depending on availability , eg salmon season

- Was fun without prizes, but they would only increase interest so I am all for them. Of course I would pay postage

-Keep a yearly tally of a big 5, Like Dhufish, Mulloway and other trophy fish for a true brag. Biggest dhufish caught all year by a Fw member would be a nice claim to fame IMO.

I think it went well

only things I would change is the number of species, have a selection rather than every species. As long as there are enough target species to keep all forms of fishing statewide happy it should run well.

Also just make it individual, north/south or teams seems pointless to me though obviously different for the Exmouth comp.

For all the time you put in! I hope you'vve enjoyed it. I have! Ive done a few comps in the past and found the all day affair not really do-able.

anyways thanks again!

ummm north won

Tue, 2011-07-26 17:36

if you take one off south and add to north that is a swing of two.

I like to think it was all me that brought it home...
