A couple North weekenders

Had the chance to shoot up north a couple times earlier this year - monkey mia area. Always love fishing for pinkies on plakys with light spin gear - even the misses froths on it! The last couple years theres been plenty of bait around also - stick baiting for longtails and monster brassys. Tailor on the chew also - after realising my stickabaits were gettting low I ripped the bib off a few laserpros. These things are dynamite when casting into schools of pelagics or chasing the choppers with plenty of pauses. Especially the chrome varieties. Work them similar to my sinking stickbaits - on the up side, they can be worked across very shallow reefs without heading too deep into snag territory.  Much lighter on the hip pocket when your running out of Marias and Duos!

Sick report, nice flicks.

Can you just pull the bib off with some pliers or is it a bit more tricky than that?

Hey guys That tailor went 72.

Hey guys

That tailor went 72. Got numerous others around the mid 60s.

The bib has a plastic pin that you push/tap out. u can still get them to dive down without the bib too - about 1 metre below the surface. Tuna chop them up

Clever with the Lazer pros.

Great idea on the Pros, stick baits are a bit pricey IMO (perhaps eBay ones better price?).

Looks like great fishing. The frying pan shot is gold. Thx for sharing.

Great pics mate, I have fished Monkey Mia quite a few times and reckon it is an absolute awesome spot, heading

back up there in September and cannot wait. Were these fish caught near Faure Island or out from Monkey Mia?

I have fished both areas and had good results, never came across any Tuna though?

Gday

Not faure island but other boats very doing very well on blacks there. No problems finding baitballs last 2 years. Only longtails,  brassy and the odd broadbar mack. Biggest longtail last year went  20kg. I expect it is the time of the year. Late jan through to march, nice and warm. bait moves into the bay
