Crap Service

When I moved from Perth to Melbourne recently I had the utterly horrible experience of dealing with a terrible removalist company. This company turned up late in the day, much later than advised, the dudes were rude and were bashing my gear around and all they wanted to do was go home for the day.

My stuff eventually turned up in Melbourne but only one removalist shows up not two. He says to me, 'you haven’t got any thing big in there have you?' I was moving all my house goods, what did he expect?? Anyway I gave him a hand to unload the stuff and he says 'who packed this stuff, there is some broken stuff in there. Anyway they wrecked a number of paintings that I had.

There was also a missing bookshelf and a missing box. They eventually found the missing bookshelf but not the box. This box had a WHOLE LOT of my fishing gear and other sports gear. Boxes full of squid jigs, metal lures, bream lures, quite a few good reels, and heaps of other fishing gear. I also had some other very expensive gear in there. Essentially I got cleaned out of fishing gear except for some old stuff and my game fishing gear.

This box was with all my fishing rod tubes in the garage and my guess is that the removalists knew what was in there and thought they would pay themselves a little overtime and flog my gear. I cant prove it but it is my guess as to why the box was lost.

When I called them up the company denied everything (even losing a box) and were extremely unhelpful. I am in contact with Consumer Affairs about my rights. Worst thing was that because I was in such a rush I didn’t get insurance – expensive mistake!!!

This company operates nationwide but I wont mention them here (well maybe not…). If you are planning a move send me a PM and I will tell you who they are. I can say this, there were 2 companies involved, one is a MOVING GROUP and the other one are supposedly MOVING PROFFESSIONALS but they certainly are not!!

Sorry for the rant but hopefully some one else wont get caught out with these idiots!!!

Mate, i am furious, I had

Mate, i am furious, I had about $2,000-$2,500 worth of stuff in that box!!!!!

I have called these blokes heaps of times, tried to be nice, tried abusing them, etc but nothing out of them. Home insurance does not cover the goods while they are in transit.

I don't know what has happened to the state of service in Australia of late. There appears to be a widespread malaise in the standard of service that is being fished out.

I had a recent issue when I was trying to sort out some issues related to my late wife's estate. They really gave me the run around, but what really got to me was when two of the staff went off into a side room and started laughing about it. Many people will tell you that bankers are cold hearted, but I thought that was sinking to a new low.

Carriers Legal Liability Act gives them immunity

Wed, 2009-11-25 14:00

Except in Queensland where domestic type movements attract liability as long as the claim is lodged within very narrow timelines.

Didn't you take out as part of the contract some transit insurance (many home removal companies incorporate the cost into their quote) - check your paperwork - given this is my field of expertise (insurance and transit) if I can be of any help drop me a pm

Not good Gus....but a lesson for all.

Spread the expensive things over different boxes and photograph.

Insurance - necessary evil.

As said, AC affair and or TodayT.

Cheers Pete

Ha haaa great idea Wade.

Colin, that is bloody terrible.  You should put in a complaint to the bank I am sure they would take a complaint like that very seriously.  That sure is a new bloody low.

As I mentioned I was in such a rush that i forgot to take out insurance.  I am kicking myself.  I have photographs of all my lures as I had them for insurance purposes (oh the irony!!)

I will PM a couplle of you now.  thanks for the offers of help

Almost sounds like a police

Thu, 2009-11-26 09:33

Almost sounds like a police matter as you know what is in the box and surley they would have noted how many box's were on the paperwork its a matter of theft.Making a few calls to the opposition wouldnt hurt either just do what you can to try and make things difficult for them
