Every getting ready ,should be good run this year. 1 month to go . Funny enough it was around this time of year got our first softy’s ( diving) water like mud atm . Water to cold for me also . Getting soft.

Front side slats snapped of. Pot 70 meters away . ( big occy maybe) not. 19 in next pot / 9 in other .

Happened to me too
That also happened to me Little Johnny, pot was around 50 metres away in deeper water, line was tight. Pot had clear signs of being rolled around and bashed around on the reef, couple of broken slats on it. Not sure what happened there, we don't get a lot of boat traffic down here so doubt someone pulled it but it would make sense if so.
Dropped it back out today and checked another pot, nothing. That makes one cray in about 6 trips. Hopefully they start up soon down here (Margaret river area)

Mate got 26 in one pot. Right at the back of the 3 mile Mindarie. Put my pots a few km south of him. Confident now. Was stuffing around in 8m 1 mile out before. Slaying it in 12 m back of the reef.

2 southerns out of 4 pots today, first ones in over a week just north of the Cut in Bunbury, haven't seen a white yet. Plenty of pots about but also plenty of divers.
Mate who dives south of town has no problem catching his bag of well oversize whites in no time at all

Half Size Pots
Who else uses half size pots? I don't have a great back so opted for smaller pots. 2 weeks out of Hillarys behind the 3 mile and still donuts for me. They have steel bottoms and and rail plate (surely that is enough weight?) and I bait them up with Tuna heads and blue mack. Pots are dropped behind the reef as close as possbile on similar ground to others. Not sure where I'm going wrong. I'm starting to think these pots don't catch.... Any one lese use half size pots, how much do you weight them and do you have much success?

Half size shouldn't be the issue. More likely pot placement and bait type/quantity. As long as they are weighted heavily and aren't moving around they should be fine ...target a reef point where it meets sand or ledges. Hillarys does seem to be having an ordinary year but you should be getting something.

got 23onfriday (14inon pot), then 3 on sunday, and oone had to go back :( i got a red in clsoe. hopefully not the end. i have had a pretty average season.
cant get blue mack anywhere, so using tuna heads, wonde rifg the bait made a diff?
what depth are people finding them in currenlty? we have our potts spaced so 1 within 3 mile, 2 just out, 2 in 13, and one in 18m....... relaly hopeing i can get one more good haul before the end of the run.

sad effort last few days and looks like a full moon coming. hasnt really been the best season for me this year. put pitts out really early too. check again onsunday, hopefuly big haul!

hit and miss on FFB
Dropped tow pots on FFB west of Carnac last Sunday, after catching only a few closer in (3 Mile?) the past week. Checked today, only 1 white in one pot and the other pot has gone missing. Either floats cut off or taken. Dropped the remianing pot back in to check on Saturday. Hopefully get a bag. This season way worse for me than the last two.

Hi I am looking for bait I try polony last week got nothing all polonys gon then Friday put in turkey spam gift from my sister in plassic pots an frozen dog foods Chom can in pin pots caught only one eels. My freind from Watsupp Collie says Chom pet can works on marrens but I no think work for creyfishs

FFB crays
Gday guys.
Hope everyones having a good season.
We pulled ours in yesterday. Fished the back edge of the 5 out from woodies. The back of the bank is still fishing really well, easy 24+++ out of 2 pots everyday.
Thought this info might be helpful to any that are struggling behind the islands

FFB depth suggestions?

Not having much of a season in close, so headed out to FFB and dropped two pots there for the frist time last weekend Dropped on sand just next to reef in 12-13m on the west side of FFB, but only 1 cray when pulled yesterday. Hoping to get out and pull on Sunday, but would be grateful for any advice on depth to target if I still can't find them. FFB is a long run for me on my own to get donuts, and the pots and baits I am using did very well for me the last two years. Any advice appreciated.

Bit of a lucky day for me today. Cruise back in to the ramp then a 25 minute drive to work, get out of the car and goto take my crocs off to put my boots on and I see a blue ring occy wriggling around on my crocs. Usually wear my work boots and the one time I dont this happens.

Last few pots out tomoz .still in close. Fishing time now. Family and neighbours sorted. I still think crays ( main lot) stayed at 5 fathom bank. Run in close to shore slower than normal. One of my main easy five spots very sad. Pros had unreal run on 5 .( early) prior to whites. It was steady run , not unreal

Got 12 off Hillarys yesterday so at least have a couple for xmas. Prior to this we had a total of 4 crays from multiple pulls. Been trying time this season.

we are done for the year,
we are done for the year, weird season but we managed to stay above our worst year over the last 7 years. Still caught a few but enough is enough, got plenty for xmas!!
Lucky to not lose a pot this year too, had 2 floats chopped, luckily 1 float stayed on each. Had another completely chopped, luckily found the rope. Had another break 1 of its bridles to the pot, but cam up on one!!
6 pots safely back on shore.

At last
After a very ordinary few drops inshore I moved out to FFB in 12-13m last week, based on reports here. Pulled one pot this morning for 14, all size, mix of reds and whites, one tar spot. The other pot had been moved and now stuck, so hopefully pull it before Xmas.

A 3-5kg Carp was way more fun than 27cm (legal size) Flatties and Pinkies from the bay.
