i havent used a kayak in absolute yonks (last time was on a school camp when i was 13...im 19 now) but ive been playing with the idea of getting one to allow me to access more parts of the rivers

the biggest burning question i have is what do you guys do to keep your kayak stationery in the water? via a small anchor? or do you push with the paddle occasionally? or just let yourself drift?

another question is how much would a beginner's kayak cost? preferbly tandem cause my girlfriend would like to come with me occasionally

also are there any "road rules" or general things i should know in regards to using a kayak in the rivers?
