Was good
Was good for Monday but wind came up this afternoon and saw most of the boats back in early.
With a big high coming in we expect SE winds 15-20 knots increasing to 25 tomorrow and a bit stronger on Thursday so a few will be having a day off or staying in close and hitting the Lady Joyce and other reasonably sheltered spots

Gilled and Gutted
All the fish are weighed in gilled and gutted so would have to be weighed whole for a record then handed over to the Fisheries research people to clean it for you, they are collecting samples from the guts, frames and otoliths as they do each year.
Been some good trout coming in over recent weeks so be interesting to see if any more big ones come in.
Weather is crappy today and tomorrow but still a few boats out

Local Conditions
When the wind comes up like it did yesterday and again today , it pays to take note on where the locals head off to fish, most headed off down to the Lady Joyce wreck or some took the chance and headed up to Beejaling shoals, those who went south had a following sea home and those who went to the shoals had a 17nm punch in to it but one boat headed over the islands and was rewarded for their efforts with a huge flogging on the 30nm trip back. After not being able to contact them after 30minutes, police were notified and radio calls were made each 15 minutes, finally after an hour and 20 minutes we received a word then splatter and ten minutes later got through to them and was informed they were 10nm out. Police were notified of the contact and all plans to launch a rescue were canned. They arrived home safely 2 hours after their planned ETA.
For those who are new to Shark Bay, the seas whipped up a 15-20 knot wind are completely different to those down south due to the shallow water and complete lack of swell, each wave is closer together and have no back resulting in a bone jarring bang each time you cross one.

Same fish
They don't change the board until a better fish comes along, so if there's a huge fish weighed in one day one it will stay up on the board.
