Deep drop sounder shots

Had our first real crack out deep dropping in my boat off Metro waters over the weekend. Weather was pretty good, but didn't manage to find much except the usual green eyed sharks.

Later in the day we found a ledge that dropped 30 or so meters but being late in the day didn't get much time to look over it.

I took this photo which was on top of the ledge before it dropped down to 320m.

Anyone able to tell me what they think?

Thanks

Looks like bait to me Bodie,

Hard to be certain Bodie but it is certainly worth a drop, but looks like bait to me, not enough defined red in there for any decent sized fish IMO.

Depends a lot on your trannie and gain/clutter settings etc, but I usually get more defined red blotches where we get fish. Big shows like that can also be clouds of the dreaded greeneye......

agreed,

looks like sharks to me mate

id be hunting close to your mark looking for some solid shows and target them instead of fishing that. (or use a heavy jig to avoid the noahs)

ive found it pays to give the mark another run at another time of year as the fish move on and off of the structure with the seasons.

maybe next time you look at it youll see some good hard reds in there.

cheers

Will keep looking around the area.

Inquiry

Just gathering knowledge.

Is the boat stationary or slow drifting at the time of the pic?

I'm guessing that the pic on left of the screen is zoomed in on the bottom 10mtrs and there fore does not show as good a bottom as screen pic on the right?

Excuse the lack of knowledge but I am still trying to work it all out.

Thanks

correct sandbar, we were drifting at about 2 knots. Left side is on bottom lock which is 10m

Right hand side is on 80m depth but shifted down to between 200-280m
I really should have had this bottom 40 or so for better clarity

Iv got a 585 an tm260 in my tinny in that depth I'm running it at about 4.5-5 you will find it cuts out a lot of your weaker Eco/noise ie light blues green an yellow
