The Oxe looks like a seriously good bit of gear. 20kg heavier than the equivalent 200hp, but has 370nm at 2000 rpm and doesn't have gears as such, it's all belt driven. 45lph wot and expected to achieve 3x the service life of a 200hp four stroke. You could put a serious prop on it and have 40knot 22ft glass boat that sips fuel.

A petrol 4 stroke has a service live of about 5000 hours, I doubt these highly strung diesels will last 15k hours without major work. Hopefully diesel outboards keep getting developed and can prove there reliability. I would like a set on my boat if they can keep the weight down.

Dual crankshaft

When I read "dual crankshaft" in the article I thought it was a typo and they meant dual camshaft but no, looking at their website it actually has dual counter-rotating crankshafts

Mercs

The Mercs are currently in use in the armed forces in the states. They don't meet emissions so they can't sell them to the general public. Some vids on youtube if you look around.
