difference between hdi and hds charts?

Up grading sounder and gps in the new boat and I was wondering if it was worth spending the extra $$$ to get the hds? Are the charts any better on the hds compared to the hdi? I will be using the unit as a combo until I get a furuno sounder... the Lowrance will then become a dedicated gps/plotter... boat currently has a Garmin 551s (know nothing about these units)

I believe the HDI can display
I believe the HDI can display Navionics silver/gold maps wheras the HDS is compatible with those and also Navionics+ and Platinum maps (ie bathymetric detail). The bathymetric maps are much more detailed.
