Don't shoot if you don't know the size/bag limit

Doesn't look comfy really does it =(
If someone checked, they would know that people are in fact a protected species at any size!

Accident for sure
Would have stoned him dead if it was intentional!
Fella would have been hammering that green stick I reckon. Can you buy those green sticks off the shelf in a chemist?

Penthrox
As dd83wa mentioned, the penthrox inhalers are scheduled and restricted. Even Industrial Medics have to get a Doctor's okay to administer.

story goes - his dive budy
story goes - his dive budy tapped him on the scuba tank with his speargun, when they were 25ish m down, to tell him he had to go up for air and his gun accidently fired. he came out of hospital that day with a sore shoulder and only 2 little scars as proof....
he is seriously one very lucky fella not to have done any muscle, nerve or bone damage. a few inches to the left and he would have a serious headache.
happened down here in Albany the day before xmas.
I felt more sorry for his mate who shot him because it would have been pretty bloody scary having just shot ya mate through the back....

Very lucky guy
If he had a scuba tank on it would be hard to get him any further to the left.Just lucky it didnt go straight in.Tapping tanks is what the cray loop is for.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

It's photos
like these that have people thinking " How the Hell did that happen."
I suppose that's why people do courses and learn the Risks and Safety Requirements it whatever we do.
However at the end of the day it balls down to Just Plain Common Sense, sadly we seem to be losing this art.

Looks like a bounce of his scapula
That Looks like he is one very lucky guy. The angle might have been more direct and I suspect his scapula deflected the spear, ie bounced off his wing bone. It would be nice to see his XRs and look for the groove in the scapula. On the other side of the scapula it is tiger country with mayor arteries, veins, nerves and lung.
Getting a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) in 25m off water would certainly not have been any fun getting to the surface!!!! And it would have stopped his diving carreer in one quick flash, and potentially his life.

Wouldn't have had to tap him
Wouldn't have had to tap him with anything if they were spearing without tanks!!
Plus guns don't fire by themselves!! Finger off the trigger would be an even better method.
