A dream becomes reality

Hi Guys,

Have to share my excitement and show you my new boat, picked it up last Friday but had to work this weekend, but managed to take the family on its maiden voyage in an around Peel Estuary and Mandurah yesterday. But very keen to start dropping a line or net over the side.

Its a 540 Trailcraft Profish with a 115 4 stroke Merc pushing it along. Lowrance HDS-8, dual batteries, deckwash an pump, VHF radio and cd player and bimini top.

Cheers

That's a nice boat.  I never believed those boat adverts that show boat owners pulling chicks but it seems I was wrong

Yep its been a long time coming buddy.

Still pinching yourself I bet.The old man is spoilt for choice now having to two decent boats now he can head out on.

I rekon a few more of those sbt's we got last week would blood the decks nicely. The old deck wash will be working overtime.

Cant wait to get out for a spin.

nice boat mate!  I have the exact same rig though I have a Optimax 90hp on the back.  That will fly with a 115hp!

One thing you'll find is that the back of your sounder will get wet from the spray (only in choppy conditions).  I ended up enclosing the top of the console to protect my electrics.  I modified the console though I've seen a few with windscreens added to the front of the console.

They are awesome boats...and sea worthy too.  I take mine out to the bank quite often...

Hey Wayne,

Thanks for the tip about covering up the electrics on the back of the sounder, it did come up at a debriefing (beers) when we got home. Have to take it back on Tuesday, a couple of little issues, but nothing major.

Glen, also I ended up selling my bimini top as it got in the way when fishing/diving etc.  I saw a profish with a fixed bimini that only had two bars holding it up.  This was a custom job though it gave plenty of shade and kept out of the way.  It also had some rod holders welded to it.

I plan to get one fitted on mine so when I get it done i'll send ya some pics....

I'm jealous.  Unfortunately I think I'm still a little while off getting myself a tub.  You've got yourself a nice rig there.  Looking forward to the reports.  Enjoy!

Nice rig

Just the right size.  I have the 540 Sportscab. Yes agree with 2 issues. The Bimini can get in the way, and IMO they ones you get are  flimsy. Mine has a custom now and as yet (XXX fingers) havent been blown off like the old one with the trucks on Dampier Hwy. The screen for the consule is a must IMO. The hull is identical and I love mine, but drolling over a 560 Barcrusher parked on Dreamers Hill in Karratha ATM.

Up here cover is a must, and with family even in Mandurah (formally within stumbling distance off the Parkridge Pub -- still have the house there) I would somehow keep cover. With hot weather and sun you just dont want to trade cover for a Melanoma!!!

Nice boat mate!!!

I have a 6m profish and wouldn't get rid of it in a heartbeat. Pretty versatile boat if you live up north. Great for creeks, diving and fishing out wide, with more walk around area than boats that are more than a metre longer. I have a tinted screen around the console area (which is a must) and a fixed baitboard (ali) off the back of the transom area. I'm just about to put heavy duty marine carpet in as the standard carpet does stretch when force and weight is applied. Not sure if you have got the 5 seat mounts in the floor but I made up a casting seat for up the front of the boat, which is handy when flicking lures. Good luck with the new rig, I'm sure you're going to have alot of fun.
