Driveway Advice

Hi all,

Not fishing related but after opinions/advice about driveways.

I am looking at widening / replacing my existing driveway so can park boat on it easier

Not sure whether to go for pavers or exposed concrete aggregate

What are pros and cons of both and which would you recommend

Also any recommended installers

Cheers for any advice

Joycey

Boat size

A lot will depend on boat size and if the trailer is tandem axle. If it is tandem axle and you need to turn the boat on the driveway it will try and push the pavers around. If a heavy boat, again it will be compressing the pavers where the tyres sit and create low spots.

My boat is 2T with a tandem axle and I went for liquid limestone. It is holding up well so far but like any large concrete slab there are slight cracks from settling. Exposed agg would hide a lot of them probably.

  • zoom, if the job is done properly the problems you mentioned will not happen with paving !

Pavers wont move if the job

Fri, 2016-11-18 19:52

Pavers wont move if the job is done properly. Exposed agcan be slippery when its sealed like it should be. Conc cracks exposed or grey. Pavers can be pulled up and fixed, services put under, changed later when the mrs wants a colour change . Both are good. Depends what you want to spend really

Boat wash down

Pavers=ants . Conc depends on what mesh you pick and how thick you request laid. Both will do job. Depends on what you want really.

 Grey non skid slab 100mm

Fri, 2016-11-18 22:25

Grey non skid slab 100mm thick with 63 mesh, it is quite affordable and if done right it will only crack where it's ment to.

can also colour the concrete to what you like.

We had a massive issue with ants last year and a few of our pavers have sunken...and you get weeds growing up through them.

If I had the cash, I would get our 200m2 of pavers ripped up and concreted.

Concrete slab all the way I

Concrete all the way I reckon. No weeds, no ants, easier to clean & you can jack your rig up for maintenance on a good slab without cracking or dislodging any pavers.

Exposed ag is not slippery. That is why many councils are using it more often. Just ask a grano.
