Exempt area
Note that the exempt area is in the process of being removed. From my understanding only Cockburn sound will be exempt and up to 2 nm offshore.
My personla belief is that all vessels wherever they go should have one. We have had a number of rescue following the activation of EPIRBS and if you have the one with GPS we can go straight to the location. Accurate within 10mtrs.

EPIRB rego
When you register your EPIRB add your car. I carry mine in the car on long drives eg. Darwin to Port Augusta, long roads and not much traffic. Kept it the car Darwin to Busselton also. A friend of a friend went off the Stuart Hiway and not found for 3 days (alive but not very well). An activated EPIRB could have saved days. Maybe could be installed as a option in any car!!
