Still no photos - think my camera sleeps with the fishes. Great day Saturday apart from the gear failures - Avoid - "Saratoga" rods off Ebay - used 3 times and the tip guide fell apart - corroded. Don't know the brand but Ebay Chinese braid - not woven or braided, just two crappy strands sort of wound together - broke or frayed all day - from now on i will pay a bit more for something that does not let you down.

what do you expect mate, rods are getting cheaper these days, defintely worth spending a tad more for something you know it wont break down.

buy cheap - buy twice
buy cheap - buy twice
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Nothing wrong with buying
Nothing wrong with buying off ebay just stick with the brands you know and trust. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Buy smart and get warranty
I know that gear can be expensive but I prefer to put my trust in the local tackle shops. Buying new from them pretty much insures that you get a warranty and someone you know will take it back as your business is special to them (or at least it should be).
Tackle is the most important I recon and costs you the most if you don't get it right. Add up the cost of terminal tackle over numerous bust offs and it starts to hurt. A cheap Jarvis Walker combo can do as well as expensive stuff if tackle is good. Granted, it won't last as long.
Cheap is cheap IMO.
