No need to go heavier then

No need to go heavier then 10lb for squidding. I use 8lb and have only lose 5 jigs in 3 years of squidding.

There is the Berkley egi master range that suit 3.5's to 4.0's, The egi force Type C is roughly that much i have used mine for 3yrs and love it still, the gladiator range even the fwa egi rods are in the price.

I also have a Xfactor egi rod for sale for 120 which is 8ft and rated to 2.0-3.0 jigs but can be used on 3.5's with ease.

i dont really see what the line class has got to do with losing jigs?

i've lost many, many jigs over the years, but all have been to snags, ropes, pelicans, etc etc.

wont matter if u've got 6,8,10 or 20lb mainline, u'll still lose the jig.

If you read his post he says that he thinks that 0.8-1.5 is to light im letting him know that he doesnt have to go any heavier that that.

Losing a jig with 20lb would be very rare if your knots a good. Like i said i use 8lb and havent lost many jigs at all.

Theres plenty to choose from

Theres plenty to choose from in that price range, I personally would be looking at the components of a rod and leaning towards SiC guides for 250$ or at very minimum fuji components.

Shimano Sephia.

If you're worried about line braking then use a smaller diameter (usually more expensive) PE.
