electrical beeping

i was out on the river this morning, and when i started go go a bit fast, this beeping noise started.   so i slowed down and it went away, only started when i was going fast but then soon, going off, on off, on.  was really annoying, so we went back to ramp but could not figure it out, > checked all electrical equipment, could still not work it out....    go home and did not happen whilst washing motor.   could not work it out........   seems like coming from ignition switch or something. ?????????

any ideas ?

got 90hp mercury outboard.    could it be a low level oil alarm ??????

do your gauges have warning

Mon, 2011-03-07 14:30

do your gauges have warning lights?

I have a 90 johnson and if an alarm goes off normally a light lights up as well,

Oil level is the obvious thing, but could be your temp as well, when was the last time you had your impeller checked or replaced?

oil alarm....

If you have an onboard oil container and its low often you'll find the oil alarm will activate as when you go faster the oil angle changes to show lower than it is!?!

If the oil level is low, fill it up to the top and take it for a spin and that should solve the problem!?!

 sounds like oil alarm

sounds like oil alarm mate

it happened to me a few years back , i was out the back of gi at the time, it took me hours to get back home at crawling speed. i took the boat in to get looked at, nothing wrong with the oil injection i was told it was getting oil. i found out that the pink wire from the oil sender unit was loose i put it back on properly and havnt had a problem since i hope this helps and it is simple as that.

                                                                                                       cheers

alarm

Mon, 2011-03-07 16:36

I had a 150 mecury 2 stoke, had an alarm and it was the over heat, but it was the oppasite to you when you went faster it went off and came on when going slow. so i would suggest it will be an oil alarm.

It is almost definately

your low oil alarm mate. I have a 90hp Mariner that does the same thing when the oil level gets a little low. Constant beeping about 15 sec apart that sounds like it is coming from the ignition. Nothing to worry about, just wack in some more oil. I always carry a 4L tub of it onboard with me just in case.

The last two posts are obvously for new style outboard. Verado or HPDI or similair..

I'd guess oil as well. If the Bottle only had about 1 or 2 inches in the bottom than it will start to come on.
