hi Guys havent had much luck over the last few years in catching occys , mostly because my strings disappear before i get to pull them for the first time , i know the divers do well , because i was given some last year by a fellow member , pickled most and kept others for bait , this year am determined to try again guess my question is how do you stop others from relocating pvc occy pots ,do they work and what area around Garden island is best.
cheers

Saw some cool looking Occy
Saw some cool looking Occy pots on here. I recall it was from Oceanside but not sure.
I dont bother with pots though. Just go to the Cut. Catch one herring, or if you are to lazy get a bait mullet. I use 2 gidgies, but I think as long as you have a longish pole to tie the "bait" (Herring, mullet) to that will sufice.
Then load up one gidgy (dont need much force) and poke the bait into the holes in the rocks off the cut. You are bound to attract the attention of an occy or more. Then when it comes out off its hiddy hole let rip with the gidgy, and whalah - Occy for bait or brekkie.
Can do this at any rocky structure and it works a treat.

Hey Saulty,If I tell you were
Hey Saulty,
If I tell you were the best spot is then everyone would know and then ya pots would go missing.
1, dont have floats on them, just string 3-4 together and use a grapel hook to retreave them
2, place them at the edge of the weed
3 If you still dont get any put a mask and flippers on or come out with me and John

Trigger traps all the way.
Trigger traps all the way. PVC pipe never worked that well for me.
