exmouth weather suggestions

HI guys.

I am hoping to plan a fishing trip up to Exmouth next year, will be my first time towing a boat up ( hopefully the start of a yearly migration!!). I am pretty flexible with dates, so was hoping to get your opinions on the best month to head up.
I was thinking early may ( to avoid school holidays etc) and will probably be staying up for 8 or 9 nights.
Any comments on what the wind/swell Is usually like this time of year? I have heard it can still be a pretty windy time of year. I am only in a 5.39 aluminium so hoping to avoid rough weather.

Also in the past have always just driven up over 1 day, but now that have the boat will likely stop and sleep somewhere overnight. any suggestions on stops that can accommodate a boat/trailer etc?

Any info greatly appreciated!

cheers!

march, april and may are usually the best months for low wind and a drop in temp will allow you to sleep in a tent without feeling like its an oven . wind direction will vary a bit but at least with exmouth you can fish either side of the cape.

Exmouth

We make an annual trip every April/May.  Perfect weather conditions with glass offs most days (great when you are coming back from islands).  Temp can be warm during the day but cool enough at night to sleep.

Size boat is perfect for all types of fishing.

Whale sharks around so we often jump in with them.

From Perth, we start usually around 7 - 8am and casually drive to a spot 80km south of Carnarvon - Edegee.  By nightfall it is a really dangerous section of road towards Carnarvon so we set up an easy camp there.  You will see the RV's and caravans there.  It has a drop toilet.  Continue to Exy next morning.  Coming back we do the run in one hit.

Billabong

We stay at the billabong in one of the dongas. Cheap, plenty of room for the boat next to the donga so you can plug in the engels and a pub with good meals.

We have generally good weather late april and may.

 Gday mate,

i pm’d you back in March about your Exmouth/Shark Bay thread. You were heading up there in April - did this trip not happen? From experience - any month can be beautiful or blowing! As suggested, the April / May period is probably the safest, but last time I went in November the fish were on the bite!! (And it was HOT and windy!!!)
