Family Friendly Fishing in Busselton

As per the other thread, I am going to Busselton next week, and if the weather holds I want to get the kids out to have a fish. I am assuming that herring will be easy enough to come across, along with whiting and maybe some skippy if they are lucky.

Should I take some crab nets too? Are there some around down there?

Any special places to look?

Herring in Busselton

Fri, 2010-04-09 20:39

Cammos... plenty of herring in the bay. Not big but big in numbers.

Went out late this morning and headed straight into a front coming in so chucked a U-turn and headed back in close.

Anchored about 800 mtrs out from Dolphin Rd, burleyed up and just about able to walk on water they were that thick. Even had the gardies hanging around but not taking anything.

Actually caught my first fish on soft plastic (herring) and managed to outfish the wife for once. She was using bait.

One word of advise, after burleying up don't let the baits hit the bottom as the trumpeter's were thicker than the herring.

Good luck when you get down.
Cheers,
David

As you head out from Port

As you head out from Port Geo, head 100 - 200 metres to the right in only 3-4 metres and you will be on herring non stop.
