Anything 30lb & under I go

Mon, 2013-04-22 10:38

Anything 30lb & under I go with Nitlon DFC. Better quality than Black Magic & it works out considerably cheaper (about half price in the lower breaking strains). Anything over 30lb & Black Magic is my choice.

I use Jigging Master

I use Jigging Master Terminator and reckon it's great, but never bought it in smaller than 80lb so can't comment on the lower breaking strains

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

 Go the Fluorocarbon mate, I

Mon, 2013-04-22 19:08

Go the Fluorocarbon mate, I like it just that little bit better for knots than the tough trace black magic. If you are talking "leader" though I use the black magic supple.

 Daiwa fluoro for anything

Mon, 2013-04-22 21:59

Daiwa fluoro for anything under 30lb and black magic supple or jinkai 40lb and over. Pretty funny how many ways you can spell fluoro though.

I have used Schneider Leader

Mon, 2013-04-22 22:21

I have used Schneider Leader (Braid Compatible), clear colour(comes in camo too) for my wind on leaders and traces since 2006 and love the stuff, though i have only found one Tackle Store in Perth that stocks it regulary and in good amounts and sizes. I actually just went in there today and bought 4 different sized spools of the stuff to send up to Katherine NT, to my brother and his mates for Barra fishing as they had all been using Black Magic but after i let them use my Schneider i took up they all wanted me to buy some for them and send it up. So first postage of Schneider to Katherine is off tomorrow :)

I find it easier to tie knots than Black Magic(normnal) being slightly softer and find its just as abrasion resistant. Also find it is better for braid to grip onto for when tying say an FG knot to connect braid to mono. Used Jinkai once(normal stuff) and found it way to soft and was prone to abrasion really bad. Dont mind the old Flurocarbon when Trout and Bream fishing but only under 20lb.

Oh yeah plus the Schneider is good value comes in 100m spools and costs between about $7 for 15lb to $20 for 110lb.
