First Dhu on S/P
Submitted by scere_182 on Mon, 2011-06-13 10:29
Went out with Whitey in Jurien on the Sunday of the long weekend in an attempt to give light tackle jigging and soft plastics a go for the very first time.
First Dhu on 6" McCarthy Paddletail Pink/Pearl colour.
Absolutely had a ball testing out my new gear. A special thankyou must go out to Whitey and deckie Nick, absolute top blokes who were more than happy to share there expert knowledge.
Cheers

Cheers guys I was using a 4 ounce nitro elevator jighead. Not really much to the action just worked the plastic with the swell. Those jigheads provide alot of action themselves so not much to it really.

I just bought that same rod Rob. Mine looks a bit different though, doesnt have the camo grips and my reel seat screws from the boat not the top. Mine must be the newer model?

spot on kinga
yeah had a fiddle with both models and just preferred the look of the earlier version... pretty much the same rod just slightly different finish to the blank and grips thats all.
My brother has been using the new model for a while and has slayed some big dhu's and dolphin fish aboard with whitey.
You wont be dissappointed with it mate :) What reel have you matched it too?
Just recently decided to downsize the reel to a stradic 3000 ci4 with pe 1.5... cant wait to test the outfit out again in a couple of weeks.

I really like the look of the camo grips on yours! New model looks sweet as well so cant complain.
Got mine matched to a Sustain 4000 with 20lb Daiwa Accudepth braid. Used to run that reel on a T-Curve Saltwater Spin 5-10kg and while it was a superb rod and I caught some great fish on it, it just didnt have the light and crisp, stiff blank that the Sylphy has. Sylphy will work medium plastics so much better and plus it has a slightly higher cast weight than the T-Curve as well.
I'll be using mine mainly for drift baiting and plastics, but it will get used for jigs to 80g and on this years trip to Onslow casting a lot of poppers and stickbaits :)
