Submitted by Deleted on Sun, 2016-02-21 07:34
seems like we have plenty of interest so the entry fee of $50 paid before round one gets you the code for the AFL fishwrecked tipping comp ive started
- remembering to enter tips is you responsibility
- at this stage iam happy to pay a 1st and 2nd but will make the final call a week out from round 1
- this is home and away season only
- equal first will be decided by highest final round score. if still equal will go back each round until a winner is decided
- players listed below, please make sure you are on the list and have paid next to your name
- when payment is made use your fishwrecked name and footy tipping so i can keep track of who has paid
- Total of $1300
- 1st = 850. 2nd = 450.

Just checked mine then and it a little hesitant, but got there in the end. AFL apps never very fast, try to get too much happening seems to kill it.

Crashed
At the start of 2014's tipping on the AFL website, the website crashed. Make sure you get your first rounds tips in a couple of days in advance, you can always try and edit them afterwards but make sure you've got something in.
I don't want to hear some sob story from people who couldn't get their tips in.

On the AFL tipping site there appears to be a margin required on the first game. Does this not apply to the FW tipping comp?

OK thanks guys
With respect to tipping a margin I'm not phased either way, especially if it is only the one game per round. If it was tipping a margin for every game I think that would become a little tedious.

Don't you need the margin to
Don't you need the margin to decide the winner if more than one person picks the same amount of winning games ?
I know the tipping I have been in quite often have a couple of people ending up with the same number of winning games and the one closest to the margin gets the weekly prize.

An alternative is to go back
An alternative is to go back through and between the two of them work out who beat who more times on a week by week basis.
Bottom line is we agree with the rules set by gilly before season starts so there is no arguments at the end.

You can do your margins iam
You can do your margins iam just saying the eventual winner of this comp won't be decided by who guesses the least points. To me the winner is who gets the most tips correct. You doing margins won't effect anything in this comp so go ahead

Ok the reason iam not
Ok the reason iam not wanting to include margins is because it's a tipping comp not a guess the points comp. Personally think it's a stupid idea margins but that's me.
The reason for the count back system is to eliminate as much "team work" as possible.
Few years ago we found the first 3 places had been working together and between them shared all the money. Okay you can't fully prevent this from happening but the "count back" system I mentioned in original post seems to be working. It makes people aggressive with there tips all the way to the end.
Please feel free to come up with better ideas, this is just the way the comps I've been evolved in are run.

PS Who wants to join my tipping underground cartel so we can share the money!!! :-/
Hope the above don't happen, I mean I joined more for fun and a few laughs, and if I win (very unlikely) we'll have a great FW party

Apologies gilly. I hadnt noticed you wrote a countback system into your original post. Otherwise i would have not bothered suggesting alternatives. Your system sounds great a) because you took this on and ran with it and b) you made that call early and c) if anyone else disagrees, refer to (a) and (b)!
Good job and thank you for organising it all

Pies and Dogs. Listened to some expert and he rates GWS a threat this yr so stuck with them now after originally going D's.
Now the only one I have against the trends shown is Adelaide even though at Etihad.

Novice to this site (the AFL one)
When you say load more I cant see it on the tipping page. Is there a way to see who is in the comp on this page or do you then go to the comp page. Sorry but not a computer Guru.
But I think I have got it.
BLOODY hope I stay on top off the list as current, or is it that everyone is on the top if they are in the comp??

Around 3300 people got 9 out of 9 correct in the AFL tipping = unbelievable. I was pretty happy with my 8 out of 9. I got the Melb Vs GWS game incorrect.

Cheers
Good start with 8 just got GWS v Melb wrong.
Reason i picked doggies over freo was sandi was out. Quite a big loss but also dogs didnt have main ruck either. Main reason was that Freo would be playing at 11 in the morning our time. Still in bed. Same as west coast when the played Adelaide (Late last year, maybe last round) in adelaide the game started 9am or close too our time. WAY too early for the boys to get moving.
Second with hawks injuries and Danger playing first game with selwood etc thought the boys would get a rev up and start the year with a win against the reigning premiers.
Got a few hard ones this round though. Colliwobbkles v richmond and adelaide v port. Even eagles v hawks.
