Mate I think the fact that it's a weekday is more important for the FADs. Fish are usually way more active than on a weekend. Good luck!

Hmmm.. was thinking of trying the fads. Although the wind is light, given it's westerly, any idea if that is that likely to be an issue? Swell is looking ok, but I find some of the sites don't really reflect well on what is going on that far out. At least it looks to be pretty constant during the day...

The old boy and I turned outa Hillarys and changed plans and shot down to Marmion and loaded up on Herring, snook and a bonito for bait tomoz and crumbed herring sangas for dinner.

Fishranger says it was 5 knots while we were out... more like 15!

I should have gone home with a few crays after pulling pots at GI but nope, like a dumb ass I headed out @12kts to a bit of ground and fed the juvenile snapper population for a few hours.

Yep, we went out past Rotto

Sat, 2021-03-06 16:36

Yep, we went out past Rotto too. Average ride out and a bloody shithouse ride home to OR. That westerly wind over westerly swell when transiting north north west was absolute balls. An hour and 30 min steam back.

Managed a small bluebone and dhu for our troubles but it was hard graft.

Fri, 2021-03-05 19:48

Was out on the ski all day. Was certainly nautical out there. Managed a huge sbt and dropped another. Could not belive the amount of bait bubblin on the surface in 30m. Spent most my time trolling for a mack but no love. Also picked up a bonito on jig from the bottom in 32m haven't seen one since i was a little kid.

Yep me too , punched out at snails pace into the westerlies to about half way of where I wanted to go and turned around . I'd call it more like 15 knots + . Mucked around on the FFB for nothing and called it stumps early.
