Furuno tvg
Hi all I have a fcv 627 and on Sunday had a play with the TVG settings , normally don't use this function or have it on low but decided to have a play with very poor results .
Turnig the setting up to high or even med resulted in a screen full of vertical lines mainly yellow , this obviously didn't seem right so I turned the function off but in hindsight should have played with the clutter/colour erase or even the basic gain to see if I could dial it out .
Anyone have this setting sussed ??? Furuno market it as a special function so I presume there is some merit to it or they wouldn't have developed it .
I presume the function applies to the bigger units aswell although I have noticed that the deep drop guys use it more so maybe it's a bigger unit/ power thing ???
Cheers for any info fishfish

Tvg if used correctly will
Tvg if used correctly will transform your FCV from a mild mannered recreational sounder to a ball tearing semi pro unit.
Only use high tvg in deep water (plus 100m) and turn down gain a LONG way. In 400 m yesterday we were using only 2.1 gain with a 1 kW transducer and getting good fish shows. Only use the minimum colour and clutter erase you can.
Worth playing with.

Hhhhmmmm well this defiantly sounds like its worth playing with and I'm in love with the unit already so I can't wait . Thanks John for your tips and there was a deep drop photo I saw somewhere and the gain was unbelievably low but had a good showing...
Dougie I can't remember exactly as I moved around from shallow ( 40m) to deep (90m) and back to shallow during the day but I want to say shallow ?? Pretty sure it was early in the morning when I was playing with it ..
