Can anyone confirm that the bottom lock function on Lowrance units is simply a zoom function? there for can still create "lumps" from the swell?

Bottom lock

BL causes a flat line to the second half of a split screen and is flat no matter what the surface conditions are like.
Some models like the JRC FF series have bottom differentiation on their BL which enables you to predict bottom type by the length of tails on the trace.
Whatever the case, it is a flat line which project fish as "flare ups".
As far as I know (not 100% sure), only the Japanese sounders have a true BL - Furuno, JRC, Koden.
I think Garmin are tapping into it now with their new models. Furuno had BL from the start even with their basic B/W sounders (LS4100 and 6100).
Its not "bottom zoom" as some people get confused with.
Hope this helps.
