Now with the predictions looking like a Tuesday impact off a severe Tropical Cyclone on the Pilbarra, how could a better name apply than Rusty.

Race on
The tropical low out in the Indian Ocean looks to be forming in to a cyclone as well so its a race to see which one is declared a cyclone first to get named Rusty.

bit of a toss up i reckon goodz
i was planning on going but i have cancelled its either going to be perfect with the calm before the storm or blowing its ass off! it really depends on the track of the cyclone! if it stays how the ecmwf was predicting i would say it wont be great! but remember this is 8 days out so anything could happen

Spot on
Pretty early to be getting excited I reckon, think I'll wait until the weekend before making any moves on locking stuff down. Might sneak to the shops tomorrow though, all the good stuff goes early once 'panic' social mediaing sets in.

Where are you guys getting
Where are you guys getting all those forcast maps from?
The best I could find was the wind forcast on the BOM site. It looks like it's crossing near Broome monday evening and the wind won't be strong enough to class as a cyclone.
Good news for my trip to Shark Bay!

be named Rusty. The other low is sort off slow.
But where is it going to hit. I am holding my breath it will miss Kcity. Sick off tie downs, climbing on the roof etc.

They named a cyclone after me!!
I'm trying to make this one go away as I can see it playing havoc with a planned trip to the Abrolhos this long weekend.
Hope it doesn't mess with your long weekend plans, guys

A couple of the models are saying it may pause off the coast
Where ever it hits may end up with 24 hrs of cat 4 or 5 winds. Not a good thing if it occurs.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

I agree
If it moves slowly with the gale and destructive wind radius it might be a long huddle and bunker up period.

Its just stopped almost all together
Trying to make up its mind on where to smash to bits. I hope the models got the pause timing wrong and this is it. If it builds up out were it is now and then stops again near the coast it could be very very bad.

Not really much like Tracy.
Not really much like Tracy. The only reason Tracy was memorable was that it was before cyclone codes were introduced and it was the first severe cyclone to hit a major city. Since then houses have been built to code, alert systems have changed and above all people are much more aware of the potential for disaster.

I think he is talking about the pause just off the coast
Dodgy do you think the new houses built to code will hold up alright to a cat 5 for 36 hours straight? It will show weather the code works at least. I think Rustys little sister might shake the boat a bit more if she follows the same path

Not a chance. Been plenty of fly by night builders and temporary dongas been thrown together in recent years that will no doubt be the first to go.
I would also put the Sea Rescue building at a 0% chance of surviving what is forcast. Lets just hope the shed and boat survive it ok.
Im in Perth at the moment so had to direct others on how to tie down my boat. Not a whole lot of fun I can tell you....

For those Rusty is lining up...all the best...hope people have taken all the warnings seriously and done as much as they can to be prepared...as usual the army of volunteers (SES and the like) will be out to assist...hopefully no one gets hurt...and we hear good stories of survival around our future camp fires not stories of broken families...
